This is a simplified recipe of Kare-Kare for the cholesterol conscious.  I got this recipe from the Kabayao’s.


1/8 cup oil
3 tbsp atsuete
3 clove garlic, crushed
2 big onions, sliced thinly
4 cups vegetable broth
patis and ground black pepper
1/2 medium squash, cubed
20 pcs string beans
3 pcs eggplant
3 bunches pechay
1 pack of Kare-Kare Mix, dissolve in a little water
1 cup toasted, ground peanut or peanut butter


Saute garlic and onion in hot oil.  Add vegetable broth then season with patis and pepper to taste.  Add all the rest of the ingredients.  Stir gently and prevent peanut butter from sticking on the pot.  Serve with bagoong.
